HISTORY
Karlsruhe's Indoor Meeting

A new chapter in Karlsruhe's athletics history began when in fall of 1983 the Europahalle was established. A team around meeting director Siegfried König launched the first International Indoors Meeting (IHM) in 1985. By now the BW-Bank-Meeting is ranking among the top EAA- and IAAF-Meetings worldwide.
Over the past 20 years more than 100.000 spectators were able to experience a total of 3.326 athletes coming from 82 nations to the Europahalle Karlsruhe. Among them were stars like Larry Myricks, Merlene Ottey, Haile Gebrselassie, Sergej Bubka, Heike Henkel, Allan Johnson, Linford Christie, Nils Schumann and Heike Drechsler to mention only some.
Last years highlights were not only the German Pole Vaulter Tim Lobinger and Danny Ecker but also the Swedish "Queen of Athletics" Carolina Klüft as well as the Chinese exceptional Sprinter Liu Xiang. In addition to the enthusiastic audience the outstanding facilities provided by the Europahalle Karlsruhe are yet another reason for the numerous first class performances resulting in World and European Records, in Year's World Leading Performances as well as in German and other National Records.
Particularly in the field of women's Pole Vault countless records were established for the BW-Bank-Meeting pioneered in this field given that it is one of the first meetings to include this still young discipline in its programme.
The audience can look forward to the 24th BW-Bank-Meeting as an outstanding event with world class Track and Fields athletics and certainly the athletes can once again enjoy the fantastic atmosphere in the Europahalle Karlsruhe.
